Initiated into music by my vocalist mother I graduated with a gold medal in law. But it was music and particularly Sitar where my true calling laid. Receiving my early training from Ustad Mahmud Shah,Ustad Abdul Latif Khan from Bhopal and Ustad Bimalendu Mukherjee,Bhillai I was later under the guidance of Ustad Matloob Hussain Khan and Ustad Mohsin Ali of Delhi. Blending my teachers' distinctive art and style,my style of playing is contemporary with variety,spontaneity and creative expressions.
In the past 25 years of teaching I have experienced teaching as a most gratifying profession.You embark on a journey with your pupil,bring happiness,share the sorrows and the plethora of emotions that we engage in through our music that we create.
Sitar is not a hard instrument but a bit of exposure about the instrument is a must.
For Online lessons I would use Skype lessons as I have been using for my students based in Delhi,before I shifted to Bhopal.
