Role play will be the best method of making the students build their sentences. You can also make them say what they did since they got up in the morning. Make them read out passages and make them say it in simple sentences to see if they comprehended. Make one read out a passage and make another write on the board. You can see if they are improving in their spelling.

First, classify your students as Basic learners or Intermediate learners or those who want practise in grammar. Alternate your classes on these three grounds. For the Basic learners start of with simple sentences and give roles for them to interact. For the Intermediate give them passages to comprehend, answer questions and make them write essays and make them read it out in class. For those who need grammar, give error correction, spot the error, multiple choice types of sentences/passages.
