I am a broadly trained biologist with a BSc in chemistry, zoology and botany and MSc and PhD in biological science. I have over seven years of teaching experience. My teaching approach focuses on integrating recently published scientific methodology and theory with conventional textbook material. The bulk of my teaching experience comprises of two extremes, lecturing on basic concepts and principles in fundamental biology to leading interactive discussions in which my students interpret recent devlopments in the field of biological sciences. I believe that learner-oriented teaching promotes learning that is both purposeful and enduring. As part of my teaching style, I prefer leading group discussions which stimulate critical thinking; however I find lecturing a necessary part of teaching in order to convey basic principles which my students will utilize when evaluating scientific data. My training in biological sciences is instrumental in developing an appreciation for teaching diverse courses. My work as an Assistant professor in Apeejay college of engineering, Sohna reinforced my desire to teach and strengthened my belief in value of interactive learning between instructor and student. I intend to expand my own learning through participation in teaching opportunities that share the strength of crossing disciplinary lines. Most of us in the scientific field can remember a special teacher or mentor who invoked in them a love and understanding for science and I aim to have that effect on as many students as possible.
