I am working in the business intelligence domain since the last 1 year. I have knowledge in informatica, ODI, and OBIEE and I am interested in the integration of Big Data in BI. Which certification or new technologies will be useful for me in my career?

Take Big Data Course and certification. Be strong in developing your skills in all the tools and technologies in Hadoop Eco-system. There is currently a lot of demand for BigData professionals. If you are a stats and maths guy, I suggest Data science also would suit you better

Is knowledge of software like Hadoop and Hive absolutely essential to get a job as a data scientist even if you are very good at programming?

For q data scientist role, it is an added advantage if you have a good understanding of Hadoop and it's eco system. But for big data roles it is obviously very much essential.
