Teaching Experience in detail in Guitar Classes
I am currently pursuing a bachelors degree in music composition in minnesota, USA. Prior to this, I started teaching the guitar in high school, and then continued to tutor in college for two semesters. I have a total of 2 years experience teaching guitar. I have mostly taught teenagers, but I am open to teaching all ages. Being self taught, I find it easy to identify the common mistakes made by beginners, and how to avoid them. In addition to this, I have picked up many tips and tricks playing the guitar for 10 years.
My teaching method revolves around the student's needs. I design a curriculum for each student based upon their goals and what they want to accomplish from the classes. This could be anything from learning how to strum along to their favourite songs, to learning how to compose their own solos. I find it important to be aware of the student's inspiration(s) for picking up the instrument. I believe this is essential, because students often quit learning the instrument as it can seem boring with the monotonous exercises. Knowing their interests will allow me to teach in a manner that will keep the student's drive to learn alive, and ultimately help them accomplish their goals.
I primarily teach genres revolving around pop, rock, and blues. My favourite topics include Music Theory, Improvisation, Music Composition Techniques, and Audio Synthesis.
By the end, the student will have accomplished their goals, and will know how to practice and progress their learning outside of class.
