In the last chapter, you studied various life processes necessary for the survival of living
beings. In this chapter, you’ll learn how proper control and coordination is done in
plants, animals and human beings. All living beings have some sort of movement or the
other. These movements are controlled by certain organs present in living beings. For
instance, if you accidentally touch a hot pan, you immediately take your hand back. Why
and how? Why does an animal if it suspects some danger nearby? Why do the leaves of
certain plants wither when touched? All this is due to the presence of very strong
control and coordination system in all living things!
In NCERT Solutions for Class 10 Science, Chapter 7 you’ll have a clear understanding of the various organs in living beings that enable Control and Coordination in them.
7.1 Animals – Nervous System
7.1.1 What happens in Reflex Actions?
7.1.2 Human Brain
7.1.3 How are these Tissues Protected?
7.1.4 How does the Nervous Tissue cause Action?
7.2 Coordination in Plants
7.2.1 Immediate Response to Stimulus
7.2.2 Movement due to Growth
7.3 Hormones in Animals
Section 7.1 – In this section, you’ll study the nervous systems in animals and human
beings. You’ll learn about the structure of a neuron and neuromuscular junction. You’ll
also, acquire knowledge about the ‘reflex’ system that works in animals and in humans,
different parts of the brain and their individual functions, an organ that protect the
brain as well as the spinal cord and much more.
Section 7.2 – In this section, you’ll learn about coordination in plants. You’ll study what
geotropism is; what is meant by electrical impulses and how are they used. You’ll also
come across various hormones present in plants like auxin, gibberellins, Abscisic acid
and learn how plants also have an immediate response to stimulus and movement due
to growth.
Section 7.3 – In this section, you’ll acquire knowledge about various hormones present
in animals and humans and how these hormones help in coordinated growth. You’ll
study about different hormones like adrenaline, growth hormone, insulin, testosterone,
releasing hormones and their individual functions.
In this chapter, you are provided with several diagrams, activities and examples with
their solutions for a clear understanding of Control and Coordination. To know more
