I have obtained perfect scores of 9.0 on my IELTS exam, and have privately tutored international students (including those from China, Singapore, and India) for nearly 2 years, and helped them achieve scores of 7.5 and above. I understand the struggles associated (having gone through a lot of them myself :-)) with getting a good score on the exam, especially in the writing and speaking sections of the test. I would like prospective IELTS takers to know that regardless of the hackneyed misnomer, the IELTS, unlike the GRE or SAT, isn't a test of the English vocabulary. Although I haven't specifically tutored GMAT classes before, I have tutored university students (Monash University) in English medium for over 3 years. I have also tutored high school students in Math over a long period of time. In addition, I am highly proficient in both Math and English, and have obtained scores of 98 and 100 on my class X and XII Board exams (CBSE Boards). I have a Quant score of 50, and an IR score of 8 on my official GMAT exam. I have provided private tuition to high school students both in India and Australia. I started teaching high school math and computers when I was in Year XII, and have traveled to students' homes for teaching. I further expanded upon my tutoring experience when I taught high school students in Australia during the initial few years of my undergrad degree, and later on embarked upon tutoring university-level students during my Hons year and after completion of my degree. As a teacher, I understand that every student learns at his/her own pace and there is no 'one-solution-fits-all' approach to tutoring. Regardless, I strongly believe in encouraging and initiating discussion(s) among my students so that they can learn from the ensuing discussions, questions. I believe that the best method of learning a new topic quickly or of gaining further knowledge in a particular subject matter is through active participation, introspective thinking, and individual strategic analysis of a given problem type. In other words, I try to instill in my students the analytical skills required for pattern recognition and problem solving rather than getting the students to memorize a whole bunch of formulas for the exam; Formulas are important, however, it is more important to understand how the formula is derived :-). I possess a Bachelor of Software Engineering degree and have finished my undergraduate degree with an H1 honours from Monash University in Feb 2012. My course and its associated projects was centered around Java, and included detailed understanding of basic and advanced OO-principles, such as encapsulation, polymorphism, inheritance, etc. I have worked as a tutor in Monash University in the Faculty of IT for nearly 3 years, tutoring students in Java, and other languages such as, but not limited to, Perl, Javascript, PhP. Following this, I have worked as a web analyst at Lens10 (July 2013 – Dec 2014) – an Australian-based startup - and have significant experience in working with a broad range of projects involving primarily Java, Ruby on Rails, and Javascript.
