Conversion of ethanol to ethanoic acid is an oxidation reaction because of more oxygen atoms getting attached to the carbon atoms, thus getting the carbon atoms oxidized.
And if you burn ethyne in air (79% N2 and 21% O2) instead of 100 % O2, it would not combust completely, thus forming C and CO and a resultant sooty flame.
Thats why you need oxy-acetylene( oxy-ethyne) mixture instead of aero-ethyne mixture for welding.

Carbon has 4 outermost electrons and both the oxygen atoms have 8 outermost electrons.
All the atoms need 8 electrons in its outermost orbit.
Both the oxygen atoms will share two of its electrons each to carbon, which will share all of its valnce electrons with botht the O atoms.
Thus the electronic dot structure would be

There are two ways to solve it:
1) Knowing the mass of one atomic mass unit:
Mass of one atomic mass unit = 1.66 * 10^-24 gms
Therefore mass of 1000 atoms of nitrogen = Atomic mass of nitrogen * 1000 atoms * Mass of one atomic mass unit
= 14 amu/atom * 1000 atoms *1.66 * 10^-24 g/amu
= 2.32 * 10^-20 g
2) Knowin mass of one mole of atoms
One mole of nitrogen atoms = 6.022 * 10^23 atoms of nitrogen = 14 g of nitrogen
Therefore 1000 atoms of nitrogen = 14 g/(6.023 *10^23) *1000 atoms = 2.32 * 10^-20 gm
