Ans:
The atomic radius and screening effect of the intervening electrons in silicon atom are higher in comparison to carbon. Thus, the force of attraction of nucleus for the valence electrons in silicon considerably decreases. As a result, there is phenomenal decrease in ionisation energy from carbon to silicon. (There a hugel decrease in ionization enthalpy from carbon to silicon because of increase in atomic size as we go down the group and also due to screening effect.)
C: 2nd grp in periodic table
Si: 3rd grp in periodic table
So, ionisation enthalpy of C>>Si
Based on size of atom C<Si
