Overview

I am a guitar player/guitar instructor, song writer, and composer. I have been playing guitar for the past 17 years and have 10 plus years of teaching experience.

COURSES:

Basic Fundamental Course - Starting from beginning.
Basic Theory.
Chords (Major, Minor, Seventh, Sus4, Sus2, etc.).
Scales (Major and Minor).
Tuning guitar.

Intermediate Course - Various techniques of playing lead, scales, arpeggios, and modes.

Advanced Course - Classical, neoclassical phrasing/soloing, song writing, composing, etc.

TEACHING TECHNIQUES:

* Solfege - A methodology which helps to understand the pitch and harmony distinctively and enables to learn from listening and applying the same in guitar (also known as ear training).

*Melody and Harmony - Chords and Scales.

* Reading and Writing Tablature. Most of online reference material comes in tablature forms, so it is a must for musician to learn to read and also to write tablature for own composition.

* Advanced scales and modes, which helps student improvise and express the creativity beyond limits.

Start with open chords. 1, 4, 5. G C D. Start with 4 down strokes for each chord and get a smooth transition between chords.

There are a lot of instructional videos (DVD/CD) available online as well as you will find them in books strokes. However, I strongly advise you to take up a class and learn fundamental theory and practical, as it will help you to grasp the subjects covered in instructional videos. I wish you all the very best for your guitar journey.

Yes it is possible, but I strongly recommend taking classes on basics, as it is very important to get the basics right. Internet lessons does not always follow step-wise fashion and there is highly likelihood of missing basic correct techniques.

It will take anywhere from 3 months to 6 months depending on your practice hours. If you put 2 to 3 hours weekly practice and weekly 1-hour lessons, it might take 6 months to learn chords and major and minor scales and play few songs.

There is no hard and fast rule; however, some intensive programs requires minimum of 4-hour practice per day. I think considering busy life-style, 30 minutes per day 5 days weeks would be ideal for average program. Again, the more time you spend practicing, the faster you progress.
