The foundation course starts with basic introduction of Chess board and pieces, how they move. Later it includes writing chess notations, special moves in Chess, concept of Check, checkmate and Stalemate.
Basic opening principles, middlegame strategies including pin, fork, discovered attack, skewer, bank rank, etc and basic endgames inclusing single rook, 2 rook checkmate, queen endgame followed by a session on puzzle solving where lots of cash prizes are awarded to the students for solving it correctly.
This course sets the pace for students to acquaint with Chess and systematically go step by step without losing the interest of it. All the concepts are taught using storytelling in a way where even the difficult concepts becomes very easy for students to understand. It involves concept of piece value using concept of chocolates, how, why and when the piece exchanges benefit them.
Once the foundation course is done, students move to regular batch where we go deep and wide in Chess topics. Also weekly tournaments are conducted for applying the learning in actual games. Post every tournaments, the games are analyzed where the students are acquainted with good moves and opportunity areas.
This complete closed loop learning ensures the overall development of the students in Chess subject.
