It is good to return 0 , as 0 means TRUE for the operating system. Values other than 0 will have some other meaning in the operating system perspective. When we are returning 0, it is an indication that program completed successfully. In case of abnormal termination, You will be notified with different values, which has specific meaning. For example pressing Ctrl-C in the middle of the program will return 130.

The same way C/ C++ or any programming language has certain predefined set of rules, if our program doesn't comply to that rules, then we will get syntax error. For example if you miss a semi colon after the end of printf or cout then it throws syntax error. As in C/ C++ compiler it is defined that printf or cout has to end with semi colon. The same way if we miss quotation marks in printf or cout or parenthesis in if condition ( or in while,for loops) the syntax error is thrown as it is violating C/C++ grammar.

It all depends on what is the area of specialization u want to choose & grow in ur career.Choose to work with product developement companies if u have a choice, as u will learn more in first two years of time.i suggest not to start ur careet with service oriented companies.
