Indian Classical Music Classes
"For a few people in this world, their lives are driven by a certain passion, a passion that doesn't leave their side until they promise their commitment to it . For me, that passion is music.I came across the school while searching online. I called to enquire and I was told sangeet sadhana is committed to teaching pure Hindustani classical music,vocal/instrumental ,in the traditional style of guru-shishya parampara. I was immediately drawn and decided to see for myself. And from the very first class, I knew I had come to the right place.Learning from anindita mam, founder of sangeet sadhana , and my guru, has been a great blessing. Listening to her sing itself can transcend you to a divine place. She is strict like a guru, yet cares for all her students like family .She emphasizes on learning pure classical music yet she encourages students to sing without fear in their own personal style. At sangeet sadhana we are taught ragas in great depth, including the styles of different musical 'gharanas'. We learn multiple compositions in the same raag .These include pure classical compositions as well as semi classical styles of music like thumri, dadra, hori, chaiti etc. This kind of learning helps us in understanding the true nature of the raag. Devotion to classical music is akin to meditating, in the sense. It leads you down the path of self discovery. Learning music at sangeet sadhana gives me the motivation and positivity to go through all other struggles of life with a smile. "

"After shifting to Bangalore, I was looking for a Hindustani classical music academy to continue learning as a vocalist. I came across Sangeet Sadhana's official website and immediately signed up for the classes. Sangeet Sadhana has a brilliant structure in their way of teaching. They start with the orientation program (4-5 weeks) where they start from the very basics. The quality of teaching is par excellence and individual attention is given to each student. They also maintain strict discipline and punctuality, making the environment conducive to learning. The school also conducts regular baithaks, thereby providing a great opportunity for all students to perform on stage and overcome their stage fright and concerts, where various eminent artists perform from time to time. I would recommend Sangeet Sadhana as one of the best places in Bangalore for pursuing Hindustani classical music for both vocalists and instrumentalists. "

"I have been attending Hindustani vocal classes since July 2017, and it has been an inspiring and enriching experience. I love the way importance is given to basics and theory. Everyone these days are in a hurry to jump to Ragas and compositions, but at Sangeet Sadhana the Gurus are very careful in imparting the fundamentals and basics. The enthusiasm with which the gurus teach, the discipline with which the classes are conducted and the knowledge that is gained from fellow students makes the whole experience enthralling and mesmerizing! Sangeet Sadhana also brings students closer to maestros of Hindustani Classical Music. Recently more than 50 students worked tirelessly with the Gurus to organize a once in a lifetime concert called Benarasiya which hosted Pandit Rajan Misra Ji and Pandit Sajan Misra Ji. This sort of opportunity is not easily made available for students like us. I am grateful and glad that I decided to start my Hindustani Classical Music journey with an institution like Sangeet Sadhana. "

"Sangeeth Sadhana is not just a school or an organization which propagates and promotes classical music. To me, it is a place of worship; it is a temple where music is not only adored and appreciated but also respected and valued to an extent where the learner who enters this temple actually enters a galaxy of fulfillment and contentment that music has to offer. Here at Sangeet Sadhana, I learnt that music is a devotion; I learnt that music has the ability to connect the soul directly to the supernatural power which I call it, god. Beyond the authenticity and purity, the style of teaching which is followed by Sangeet Sadhana reflects discipline and dedication and makes the learning mind understand that music is to be accepted, learnt and meditated through heart. My gurus do not just guide me but actually understand what am I, what I lack, what is my plus and walk along with me to drop me to the destination called authenticity of this art. Ultimately it is the flawless rendering that every learner aims at, and same is the objective that Sangeet Sadhana walks towards. I feel blessed and privileged to be a part of this temple of art, learn, get better and experience glory. Such is the guru-sishya parampara here, supporting and directing every aspiring musician towards bringing out the hidden artist within him/her. "

"I have been part of Sangeet sadhana for more than 1.5 years. I am glad to be part of a school which is not only teaching students music and art but also nurturing them to be humble in life. Concept of guru shishya parampara which is followed in the school helps you in connecting to music in profound way. Passion and knowledge which gurus in this institute have for classical music is awesome. I look forward for my class as I get to learn new things everyday. In addition we have lot of baithaks organised by school where students get a platform to showcase their learning. I would recommend this institute for passionate people who want to understand and pursue music. "

"It has been a life changing experience for me at Sangeet Sadhana! Here one can find music at it's most authentic and purest form. Every single class from day 1 has been enriching and so fulfilling! What makes Sangeet Sadhana unique is the teachers. Apart from their incredible talent and knowledge which inspired me everyday, what touched me the most is that they teach from their heart! They will go out of their way and repeat everything 1000 times to ensure that the students are getting the lessons correctly. In addition, Sangeet Sadhana organizes baithaks and concerts often which gives the students an opportunity to witness maestros performing and also to showcase their talent. I will be forever grateful to Sangeet Sadhana, and especially Swathi Ma'am for teaching me what authentic music is. "

"When I first joined Sangeet Sadhana , on my first class I was introduced to music as a fine art , an art to express oneself , to being out our deep emotions , to open up. I understood is it more than just a hobby , it has a divine nature and this the vaadi of learning music at sangeetsadhana. The teachers and very friendly and have lot of patience. I feel blessed to be part of this journey. There teachers also encourage the students to participate and over come stage fear. Here you can find authentic music flavoured with essence of Agra gharana, just like all the rivers join the sea, all the raaga originated from different That's merge into this divine infinite ocean of music, where the seven notes indicate the seven steps of parampadam."

"It was my best experience in sangeet sadhana. It is not only about music but it also formats our whole mind set with positive energy. Patience and discipline are the two major lessons which I experienced along with music here. Reet sir knows how those initial days were and at what pathetic emotional condition i was when i first came to this institute - my temple - i would rather christian it as such. My child Khyati was uncontrollable disturbed child. I almost gave up hope to continue with her singing class when Reet sir along with Anandita ma'am assured me that in few days everything will be fine. Just to have patience. And it did. Now my child loves to sing sa re ga ma and her rowdy behaviour have also changed. Thanks to Reet sir's magic and all the other gurus' support. Discipline and patience which is missing nowadays in todays' world can be learned here along with soothing Hindustani music. Even I am a non singer but Reet sir, Anandita maam and Swathi maam assured me that practice and more practice will make me perfect. Reet sir says "Music is the gift of nature. The seven swars Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Dha Ni are there in the air. We just need to recognize it. Practice it and we can sing". This place is the place of motivation, meditation and mesmerizing music. "

"It has been really an amazing experience to be the part of such great institute of music and art.To be very honest it was only here that for the first time i realized that what actually the essence of classical music is.Not only this the atmosphere in the class is so soothing and enriching that along with the most effective learning there is some sort of peace and serenity which really heal mind ,body and soul.Although i have been the part this institute only for four months,I feel quite a remarkable change in my singing ability. For the first time i got to know the very basic of the Hindustani Classical music. My sincere reverence to the teachers of the institute.I left the institute for my personal reasons but hope to join it soon. "I have been a part of this family since last one and half years and the journey has been amazing. I was learning music before as well, but this is the place where I fell in love with classical music. Discipline, Dedication, determination and devotion are the main pillars of our school and it has helped me not only in music but also to develop myself as a human being. If you want to experience the purest form of music then this is the place. All the teachers are equally talented and gunni people. They chose different ragas and semi classical (bhajan, thumri, ghajal etc.) compositions according to your level and will ensure that you get back to them with practice. School arranges tabla sessions in class to give us a feeling of live performance where collaboration with other accompanists is very much required. Music is mostly practical but gaining the theoretical knowledge is equally important and ma’am do focus on this part as well, we do have sessions to discuss about history of Indian classical music, different gharanas and their rendition styles. School conducts series of baithaks, concerts and workshops where we get opportunities perform, listen to our peers and other eminent professionals. Anindita ma’am is like a mother to me, equally strict and soft and Sangeet Sadhna is an extended family where I got friends with same interest. "

"Well I feel quite privileged for having had an opportunity to be a part of Sangeet Sadhana and learn the basics of classical from the most dedicated set of gurus I have ever come across. I moved to Bangalore in October last to last year, starting my job life. One fine day I thought of registering for classical music(for which I always had a desire to learn, but never got a chance to learn). Soon I got acquainted with Anandita ma'am, Ananya ma'am and Reet Sir, after joining the classes and learning from them was really a great experience. Also one special mention is that I made few superb friends too. Unfortunately I had to leave SS as I was moving to Mumbai, but the teachings are imbibed within me and soon I'll take up classes in Mumbai. It was a wonderful 1 1/4 yrs of musical journey which I had to pause with a grief in my heart. Cheers to the SS team. "

"It has been about 1.5 years in Sangeet Sadhana and it has been an amazing journey so far. I have a big smile when I am writing this about My Institute and I say it proudly! Here, focus is on making the basics and foundation very strong. It very rarely happens that I miss a class (inspite of Cold, fever, etc) and I keep looking forward to attend the classes. Here, tradition of Guru Shishya is followed. A strict discipline is maintained and stressed upon in terms of attendance to class, timings, Riyaz, payment of fees or whatever be it. Music has become an integral part of me and I have realized the importance of being sincere and dedicated to music. Baithaks are arranged, in which students are encouraged to perform on stage. It is an amazing experience to come together as students get together for various practice sessions, correct each other, teach each other and ofcourse have fun. Can’t thank this institute enough for imbibing the love for music in me. I was initially in the Beginners batch and was moved to Anandita Ma’am’s batch as I progressed. It is wonderful to see the change in me. Mam gives attention to the most minute details and does not let us settle down for anything less than perfection. Reet Sir and all other teachers of the institute, who don’t take classes just for the heck of it. Their passion towards what they do is something that can b only experienced and cannot be expressed in words. If you have passion towards classical, This is the place! Happy Learning. "
