This course on electrochemistry is for grade 12 students.
Here I describe the construction of half cells, their redox process and methods to measure their emf. Next I shall display standard electrode reduction potentials of various half cells. Here we can discuss the applications such as metal reactivity, oxidising and reducing power and cell potential.
Next we will go to any cell with any concentration at any temprature, where the Nernst equation will be applied to calculate.
Then a little connection with thermodynamics where emf values give you the values of equilibrium constants and free energy.
After this topic, we will move on to electrolysis. Here the relation between charge flow and mass of substance liberated is studied applying Faradays laws.
In case of conductivity, we shall learn a little about specific, molar and equivalent conductivity applying Huckel and kohlrausch relations.
Finally we will construct lead acid battery, other batteries and fuel cells to generate power.
