It totally depends on the student. If he/she is preparing for some entrance exams then coaching classes for the same would be good choice. But then the student should also have a thorough understanding of the basic concepts as well. Self study is a better option if the student is able to learn things on their own from those unlimited free sources available now. Private tution would be the best choice to have all the doubts cleared easily and get a better understanding of the topics.

Syllabus of class 10th the is not much tough but if you need guidance coaching could be taken, but if you are shy to ask queries in crowd, opt for personal tutor.
Otherwise following NCERT properly along with some basic reference books would be sufficient for self study.
Also the focus should be on revision again and again and use your school teacher to get your doubt clear if you do not want to opt for tutions.
