Q1.  A man can row downstream 20km in 2 hours, and upstream 4 km in 2 hours. Find his speed of rowing in still water. Also find the speed of the current.                                       (05 MARKS)

Q2.  A man travels 370 km, partly by train and partly by car. If he covers 250Km by train & the rest by car, it takes him 4 hours. But if he travels 130km by train and rest by car, he takes 18 minutes longer. Find the speed of the train and car.                                                                                    (05 MARKS)

Q3.  Place A & B are 100 km apart. One car starts from A and another starts from B at the same time. If the cars travel in the same direction at different speeds, they meet in 5 hours. If they travel towards each other they meet in 1 hour. What are the speeds of the 2 cars. ?                 (05 MARKS)

Q4.  8 men and 12 boys can finish a given work in 5 days, while 6 men and 8 boys can finish the same in 7 days. Find the time taken by 1 men alone and that by 1 boy alone to finish the work.        (05 MARKS)

Q5.    Solve the following for unknown variables x & y :

1. 2/x + 3/y =13  &    5/x-4/y = -2                                                      (03 MARKS)
2. 152x – 378y = -74 &  -378x + 152y = -604                                   (03 MARKS)
3. 15/(x-y) + 22/(x+y) = 5   &  40/(x-y)  + 55/(x+y) = 13                 (03 MARKS)

Q6. The students of a class are made to stand in rows. If 4 students are extra in each row, there would be 2 rows less. If 4 students are less in each row, there would be 4 rows more. Find the no. of students in the class.
