What is the difference between a conductor and an insulator?

Conductors allow electric current to flow through them, examples are Silver, Copper, Aluminum etc. An insulator does not let electric current to pass through them. Examples are wood, plastic etc. In other words conductors have very low resistance and insulators have high resistance.
