Because of gravity of earth (freefall).ball accelerated by g=9.8 m/s2. When there is acceleration, the speed will increase with time. Thank you.

the potential energy gets converted into kinetic energy so obviously yes. as velocity is the only variable , as the height decreases, there should be a corresponding increase in the velocity. (potential energy = mgh, kinetic energy = 1/2 mvxv

As an object falls, its speed increases because it’s being pulled on by gravity. The gravitational force increases as the distance of the object from the center of the earth decreases

Due to gravitational force.

Initially when the ball was dropped, its velocity was zero. As it gradually goes down, under the earth's gravity it accelerates at the rate of 9.8 m/s^2. Also when it moves down at each point there will be some velocity( not when dropped) and hence its velocity increases according to v^2 = u^2 + 2as. ...

When a ball is dropped from a height its velocity increased continuously because of the continuous force acting on the ball due to gravity. Its value is 9.8 m/s2

Two balls of different masses are thrown vertically upwards with same velocity. Which one of them will rise to the greater height?
The calculation of height is independent of the mass of the object. The height depends on the velocity with which the object is projected upwards. Thus both objects reach the same height.
