The force on earth jn circular trajectory is gravity,acting radially inward...the direction of motion is tangential.....as u knw work is dot product of force and dx, the work done is zero.

Yes indeed, work is done on earth by this force. However, if you consider the trajectory to be circular, it's zero as the dispalcemediis tangential to the force acted upon. While, the realisitic motion is elliptical, the work is indeed done on the earth by the sun.
