The easiest way, since you mention not having prior programming knowledge, is to start with Javascript and use the basic data handling and visualization libraries like datalib.js and d3.js. With those, you can very quickly get started working with data and seeing the results immediately on your browser. You... ...more

The easiest way, since you mention not having prior programming knowledge, is to start with Javascript and use the basic data handling and visualization libraries like datalib.js and d3.js. With those, you can very quickly get started working with data and seeing the results immediately on your browser.

You don't need complicated toolchains for Javascript programming, and it will take you a long way in learning data science. Once you have gotten confident in your data science, your Javascript knowledge will also make it easier to learn other languages too.
