Rajgi Mahotsav, is a festival of dance and music which was started way back in 1986. Formerly known as Rajgir Nritaya (Dance) Mahotsav, the festival is a major tourist attraction to the holy city of Rajgir in Bihar. The Rajgir Dance festival is celebrated annually for three days showcasing the traditional and unique cultural aspects with various musical performances by local and renowned artists from India and across the world.
The Rajgir Mahotsav is organized by Nalanda district administration with the help of Government of Bihar’s Department of Culture and Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation. Bindeshwari Dubey (then Chief Minister of Bihar), inaugurated the festival for the first time in Swarna Bhadar area of Rajgir on 4th April, 2016.
Artists from all over Bihar and mainstream India along with tourists come to witness the colourful and musical festival of Rajgir where instrumental music, folk dance, devotional songs, ballet, opera and more are performed. Eminent artists such as Sonal Man Singh, Andand Sankar, Madhavi, Swapna Sundari etc had performed in the Rajgir Mahotsav.
