Hi, Most of us are not much aware about Partner Dances, when we see any 2 people dancing together we say they're dancing Salsa.
but that's not true, there are several forms of Partner Dances, let me name a few like Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba, Jive, Waltz, Foxtort, tango and many more.
Now you will say all are Partner dances, what's the difference?
The difference is in the structure, their form, their origin & the style of dancing. A very basic example, In salsa there are lot of spins, in dominican bachata lot of footwork, while kizomba is more about natural hip movements (called Ginga in their language).
Also, a very important difference is that some of the dance forms will be slightly easier to learn than others.
Now, Let me tell you what's more important is that what do you conenct with? Every Individual is different & carry their own personality, say you may have heard of Jive, & join a jive calss, however you may or may not connect with that dance form much. That doesn't mean you will not connect with any other forms of Partner Dances, because Jive is full of Energy, has lot of Bounce & needs some good amount of strength in your arms. While same person may love to Dance Kizomba which is as realxing as the girl can sleep in the partner's arms while dancing. (Pardon me for Exaggerating a bit more).
So, all we say is keep learning & exploring!
It can also happen you gave an attempt to learn Salsa earlier but it didn't work, maybe it could be the instructor or the institute who couldn't help you find what's missing or what's going wrong. Keep exploring as we say it is an extremely beautiful expereince for two people to move in sync with each other.
