Based on my experience, one of the prerequisit to become a data scientist is mathematics and statistics. So you can focus on studying stats. Other approach is to opt for computer science in engineering. Post your graduation you can opt for MS in Data science from various foreign universities /Indian universities.

First of all let me tell you that data scientist is one who have strong knowledge in statistics and computer science .So that you should opt for such course which contains both statistics plus computer science.
There are lot of mooc courses available on online sites like Coursera ,udacity,udemy,Edx.
