It varies from student to student. If you are fresh and don't have an idea on SSC CGL first understand the pattern and syllabus of the exam.

You need 3 to 4 months. First, you need to complete every topic within 45 days (every day at least 6 hours). Once you complete all the issues, you need to start taking mock as many mock as possible. Mock tests will help you increase your speed which is the crucial factor for all competitive exams. You need to practice mock tests as well as you need to revise side by side. Only by practising you can increase your speed, and it helps you to choose questions wisely. If you are a fresher to competitive exams practice only for prelims if you are a former aspirant than you should prepare for mains along with prelims as well.

It all depends on your background knowledge in English and Maths! If you have a strong foundation already, it shouldn't take more than three months. But the practice is required a lot! Because the exam is time-bound and your speed should be good enough without compromising on accuracy!

It depends on how you plan your course work. Some people study 2 hours a day for ten months, while a few take 4 hours a day for five months. It depends on your capability. Plan your coursework first, even if it takes time, please plan and then start your preparations. Please analyse your strengths and what you lack in.
