Hello everyone,

This is a chapter where every beginner of German learner starts with.

Of course one needs to learn other aspects such as alphabets and to count numbers too in the first introductory lesson.

Let's start with asking the name of a person you have just met. And this we are going to learn with the help of a role play.

We have Mr Klaus Dietrich and Ms Anita Frieden.

In german Mister is called as "Herr", and Mrs or Ms as"Frau".

Herr Klaus Dietrich: Guten Tag. Wie heissen Sie?

Frau Anita Frieden: Guten Tag. Hallo , ich bin Frieden, Anita Frieden.

                                                  Wer Sind sie?

Herr Klaus D         : Ich heisse Klaus Dietrich. Ich freue mich, Sie  kennenzulernen.

Frau Anita            : Ich freue mich auch Hr Dietrich.

Meaning of words:

Guten Tag: Hallo (literally " Good day)

Heissen/ Heißen: to called. In German "Wie heißen Sie?" literally  means "how are you called?"

Ich Freue mich: I am glad

Sie Kennen Lernen: to get to know you.

Ich bin: I am

One can also say "Mein Name ist ..." as in Englisch "My name is..... "
