Time Strategy and smart tips for GRE Verbal section

Alike all, you may think a strong grammatical skill will make you pass the GRE verbal section. Well, the GRE verbal section is not that simple as it appears to be. The tough grammar questions are bound with a limited time span and hence, its alone a terrific time management program that can help one clear the GRE verbal section with good score. According to the revised GRE syllabus, the verbal section consists of the following types of questions: Types of Questions of GRE Verbal Section Each of the above mentioned category has 20 related questions with an approximate time of 30-minutes to answer. Hence, each GRE Verbal question can be answered in an approximate time duration of 1.5 minutes per question. However, this uniform time distribution for the GRE Verbal section does not allow one to complete the reading passages. Test takers complain that both long and short passage reading is time consuming and 1.5 minutes is not enough. As solution, here is a recommendation of reducing time investment in other sections of GRE verbal exam and saving most for the comprehensions. gre1 Tips for each question type of GRE Verbal Section: Reading comprehension (long/short): Well known as the most difficult section of GRE test, the key in succeeding the comprehension section is your reading speed. The faster you read with an eagle’s eye and ear, the better is your score in the comprehension section of GRE verbal test. Here are two simple tips for the reading comprehension of GRE vocabulary section that will make it easy for you to solve: a) Map the question A one-time read is not enough for GRE comprehension. Read carefully and restructure the question to understand what they are looking in the answer. Then pick the closest option from the given ones, to be absolutely correct in GRE comprehension that comes in the vocabulary section. b) Associate & relate answer For GRE Reading comprehension, guess work is the last option. The best is try associating or linking a common word between the question and answer logically. This will make it easy for you to finish the comprehension part of GRE vocabulary test. Sentence Equivalence: Over English, here your logical reasoning capability is judged. One sentence with one blank is provided where you have to pick two options from a given set of 6. Make sure, you pick the most appropriate one and read all the options carefully: a) This is called the easiest section of GRE Verbal test. If you have a strong vocabulary, which happens over months’ preparation its very simple to bag a full score in the sentence equivalence portion. b) Do complete the sentence with all given options to check the probable end results. This will help you pick the most appropriate options and score the best in GRE vocabulary. Text Blank Completion (irrespective of number of blanks): In the fill in the blanks part, the more the number of blanks are, it’s more difficult to answer. However, professionals and experts have framed smart tricks to deal the fill in the blanks section of GRE exam: a) Answers and their probability Each blank that you come across in the fill up the blank section of GRE test has only one correct answer. So, to gain marks you need to be accurate or else it’s a loss on your end. Think a hundred times within stipulated time before you shoot for an answer as you will hardly have time to come back and cross check each blank. b) Get a complete picture Also, when you are read the fill in the blanks sentences/paragraphs, try to imagine what probably the meaning or outcome can be. This will make it easy for you to fetch the right answer in presumed or planned time schedule. One last tip, that holds true for the entire GRE vocabulary section is, practice extensive during your preparation to keep it simple on the exam day.
