Hi, my daughter wrote her 12th and is going for counseling at VIT and SRM, to take up Engineering. Like most of her age, she is toying between Aerospace, Automotive, Mechanical, Chemical and Electronics, the last two being "safe" options for a girl. I write this because, we don't want to maer her feel frustrated by joining Mechanical, and other disciplines considered male prerogatives. Aerospace is her first choice, but the decision both narrows her career opportunities as well as higher studies. She will probably have to do her Masters from the US, and in the same discipline. Is this observation correct? What are the career opportunities if she chooses Aerospace or Mechanical? I plan to put her on to learn coding and scripting, as we cannot do without IT, regardless of the discipline. She is not interested in pursuing the most common path of IT/Computer Science. Please share your thoughts...

Automotive, Mechanical Engineering is always having career options widely. not so less. but requires dedication. What we think traditionally.. For girls, Management is good rather than Technical side. If your economical status is so fine, then opting aerospace technologies is not a prob. My Advice is seems to be boring but Please make notes on each field. write pros and cons: like .. 1. Money required 2. Freedom of Job locations. 3. After marriage situations... 4. If she get gaps in career... etc.! All the best to her and to your family
