Hello, Taking up the course in advance is more beneficial for students. As it gives them more insights into the patterns of the exam. If a student starts a little late by their 10th class, still ok but if they dont take up any training till their 12th class then they will find it difficult to crack the exam and a precious year will be wasted. In my opinion, its better for a student to start while they are in High school. Thanks read less

Tutor

yes definitely as long as he has a keen interest in the subject. Better allow the child's interest in subject to grow rather than burdening him with IIT foundation courses. And for uninterested students foundation courses anyway will not make any sense.

Hello Biswas! There is no direct correlation between taking a foundation course and clearing JEE. You first need to understand the purpose of the examination. JEE is conducted for admissions into the most premier engineering colleges of our country and as such, they want to test and grill you on your fundamentals and basics in the most unconventional way. They not only want to check your problem solving abilities, but your potential to to apply your knowledge to any problem that you may come across. I did coaching for 2 years when I was in Class XI and could not make it to the IITs in my first attempt. Then, I took a drop and prepared on my own by thoroughly strengthening my fundamentals with the help of standard books and some coaching material, topping it up with extensive and gruelling problem solving and consequently made to IIT Madras the next year. Believe me, what I learnt in that 1 year on my own under pressure was matchless with the 2 years under coaching. But, I would like to emphasize an important point here. How you prepare is also a function of your personality, learning habits and your past academic achievements. In that sense, some students learn better, if they are told to follow a fixed path to their studies, others chart their own as per their learning speed. Also, if you think that your past academic record hasn't been encouraging, in that case you should go for coaching, because they can aid you by feeding you with basic framework of how to go about cracking the exam and with tailormade modules. But again, its your own understanding of basics and fundamentals and applying them to most rigorous problems that will get you through. Also, any preparation for JEE before the Class XI might be futile. instead, you should try to score as many marks as possible in your school exams (NCERT syllabus) and solve alternative reference books like RD Sharma, RS Aggarwal for Maths, Modern's ABC and S.Chand's books for Sciene, etc. on your own by applying what you learnt in your NCERTs. That would best serve your purpose till class X. Always take guidance of a good, well qualified teacher, who has a passion for teaching and making you learn, rather than just getting you marks!...If you have any further queries, you can contact me or leave a comment. read less
