I would like to share the facts of Indian Music for adding knowledge to beginners.
Very first, music is considered to be a combination of three performing arts namely singing, dancing and playing an instrument where all three performing arts are having main two genres namely Indian music and Western music. Indian music includes multiple varieties of indian classical music, folk music, filmy and indian pop. Further Indian classical music is also having two genres namely Uttar Bhartiya Sangeet also known as North Indian Music and Dakshin Bhartiya Sangeet also known as Carnatic Music.
Seven basic swars of Indian classical music are named as Shadja, Rishabh, Gandhar, Madhyam, Pancham, Dhaivat and Nishad, and are shortened to Sa, Ri (Carnatic) or Re (Hindustani), Ga, Ma, Pa, Dha and Ni.
