(production/application support analyst ) is that good for a non-coding person? bcz didn't have coding knowledge and I don't want to learn. please, anybody, suggest to me is that good or not for the future IN the USA? what about communication skills for that kind of role? what kind of certifications did we need? who does gna teach?
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE
My brother started with an Application Support role in Gurgaon. In the interview, he was tested for only communication skills and necessary Excel skills. While on the job, they taught him SQL, AWS and bit of tableau. He is doing good now and is on his way to change his position.
He still does not have coding skills. But his analytical capabilities have greatly improved.
As for the communication skills, you need to have average communication skills where you can at least convey the requirements to the other person in a simple way.
As you get into this role of Application Support, you can learn the basics of SQL, any CRM (Example MS Dynamics), or AWS etc.
It all depends on your interest.
Thanks
The production Support role is evolving fast in the current technological landscape. As per the definition, the support role does not need coding background or skill. However, due to cloud and Software as a Service requirement, candidates are required to work in both on-prem & cloud-hosted applications.
Automation is a must in operation support role. Either cloud automation or application automation must need scripting knowledge like python, windows PowerShell or shell script, XML etc. Also, the support role requires good database query knowledge. The non-technical support role will be stuck until you thin to become a business analyst or pure managerial growth.
DevOps, Cloud Engg & Cloud ops are the current requirement in a support role. L1 & NOC support is right for fresher or 2 to 3 yrs exp but as you mover the ladder, you must a technology/service focus or domain focus.
Coding is not required for production support analyst role. Support work is generally outsourced to Indian companies. If you meant about the onsite opportunities for this role, then I'd say in my 10yrs of corporate experience I haven't seen a single guy going onsite. On-site also it depends on the what technology you are supporting whether it's Security, Cloud, Servers etc. Certifications depend on the techniques, though. There are certifications available on servers, cloud and security etc. and you can take courses on Udemy or Coursera for the same.
Happy learning!
