A global pandemic is a once in a lifetime catastrophe. However, education can't take a break because of it.

Various institutions and tutors are now conducting their lectures 100% online, but are we comfortable with it? In the west, online education was partially introduced a decade ago. The MOOC assignments, weekly submissions, and writeups had prepared the west for this unprecedented time.

But that can't stop us from achieving our goal! This is why we have some of the best tips for you to learn a language online.

1. Set an achievable, realistic goal

Can one complete A1-B1 in 6 months? Yes. Must I do it? No.

It's silly to compare your learning speed with someone else. Everyone has a different level of grasping, aptitude when it comes to learning a language. Be realistic with how much time you can dedicate & plan accordingly. Consult a tutor to help you plan your schedule if you wish to learn on your own.

2. Get acquainted with the culture, food, history & geography of the target country

Sure, learning a language sounds intimidating, but it can be made fun once you learn trivia, something unique about it.

3. Language learning is a marathon, not a sprint!

Taking breaks is highly recommended. Don't be hard on yourself. Everyone makes mistakes all the time, what's vital that you try to rectify them whenever possible.

4. Stick to a schedule, even if it's for 20 minutes

Consistency is the key to acquire any skill, and through patience, you are rewarded for your efforts. Apart from your daily classes, chores, dedicate 20-30 minutes a day where you just sit and read your notes, the vocab lists, and other study resources.

Demonstrative means that demonstrates something, means that shows something specific like for example - this book ( it means, we are talking about some particular book ), that boy ( not any boy but some particular boy ).

So, what words do we use to demonstrate something ( a noun or an adjective+ noun ) in French?

The words we use are - Ce, Cet, Cette and CES. They come before a noun and agree with the noun.

Now let's see each of them separately -

1 )Ce= this or that (masculine singular noun), for example - Je veux ce livre ( want this book / I want that book )Because BOOK is masculine singular, we have used CE with it.

2) Cet = this or that( masculine singular noun starting with a vowel or a silent h) , for example - Regarde cet arbre .  CET  because arbre is masculin singulier and it starts with the vowel A

3)Cette= this or that ( a feminine singular noun)
For exemple: Je n’ai pas besoin de vous raconter cette histoire( I don’t need to tell you this or that story)  CETTE because histoire is féminin singulier.

Another example: J'aime bien cette article ( I like this / that article well ) CETTE because the article is feminine singular

4) Ces = these or those (a plural noun)
Here the gender doesn’t matter. You will use ces whether you are referring to something masculine or feminine, as long as it’s plural it works.

For example, Ces fleurs sont belles ( these / those flowers are beautiful )  CES because flowers are plural

Here’s a quick recap :
Ce: this or that for singular masculine
Cet: this or that for singular masculine and starting with a vowel or vowel sound
Cette: this or that for singular féminin
Ces: these or those for plural

Now, you may want to know that how can we differentiate between this and that. This is simple! We just need to attach the following suffix to the noun -

-ci for this / these

-là for that / those

For example - Je vais le voir ce dimanche-ci. I’m going to see him this Sunday.

Je l'ai vu ce dimanche - là . I saw him that Sunday .

ENJOY LEARNING FRENCH !!!!!

Dear All,

Whenever I teach Hindi to my international students, I used to tell them Verbs on my 5th class. With their 1st to 4th class, they are able to write Hindi sentences by listening to it. This list of Verb (in Hindi called as Kriya) changes its verb-form when it is used in sentences depending upon gender, context or quantity.

There is a verb called as Dekhna (To See). The Simplest Rule is like this :-

  • Dekhna   [Changes to]  Dekhta  - for Singular and Male Gender
  • Example- He sees - Wo dekhta Hai - (Hint- Here sentence itself says that Person is Male).

  • Dekhna   [Changes to]  Dekhti  - for Singular and Female Gender
  • Example- Wo dekhti Hai - (Hint- Here sentence itself says that Person is Female).

  • Dekhna   [Changes to]  Dekhte - for Plural and Male/Female Gender
  • Example- Wo dekhte Hain -  (Hint- Here sentence itself says that there are many People).

This is applied to all Verbs i.e. in all 100 % verbs and in accordance to that Rule, you can frame any sentences easily. (But Practice is Required and will take time !!). Here is List of Verbs which I used to give as "Assignments" to my students. You can also try making sentences with that-
