COMPUTER APPLICATIONS CLASS IX â?? CBSE session 2018-19

Prerequisites: No computer background required. This course can be attended by the students from class 3rd to 12th, as it covers the "Basics of Computers".

Course duration: Course will be of 5 days, 2 hours daily.

Course will cover the following topics:

• Familiarity with the basics of computers: design of computers. Overview of communication technologies.
• Computer definition and Types of Computers.
• Understanding working of a Computer with help of diagram.
• Computer Applications:Usage of Computer in different type of jobs.
• Computer Systems: Characteristics of a computer, components of a computer system â?? CPU, memory, storage devices and I/O devices.
• Memory: primary memory (RAM and ROM) and secondary memory.
• Binary system and conversions.
• Storage devices: hard disk, CD ROM, DVD, pen/flash drive, memory stick/ card.
• Peripheral devices: keyboard, mouse, monitor, printer, scanner, web camera.
• Types of software: system software (operating systems), application software and mobile applications.
• Operating systems: kernel, device drivers, and file systems (basic ideas & concepts).
• Overview of Computer internal Hardware components.
• Computer networking: wired/wireless communication, common protocols: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, cloud computers (private/public).
• Multimedia: images, audio, video, animation.
• Chat sites, and social networks.
