Graphic Design is the art and process of combining text and pictures in advertisements, magazines or even books using one or more of typography, photography and illustration. It is also known as communication design. It can take physical or virtual form where it can include images, words or even the graphics. It can be used for commercial, educational, cultural or political purposes.
The uses of graphic design are rather grouped as corporate design where it includes logos and branding, editorial design which includes magazines and newspapers, wayfinding or environmental design, advertising, web design, communication design, book cover design, product packaging and signage.
It may also involve the stylization and visual presentation of existing texts or even images developed by the graphic designer. Graphic design communicates to us through an array of media which includes comics, magazines, online videos, television commercials, billboards, posters, and even company logos. It exposes students to the fundamental skills required to make a sophisticated graphic design work.
