8B graphite pencils are ideal for artistic, pictorial drawingbecause they are very soft and extra soft, and produce very black marks. The "B" in the pencil's grade stands for "black" and indicates that the pencil has a soft lead with a high graphite content. B pencils are softer and have more graphite than other types of pencils, so they leave more graphite on the page and tend to get blunt quickly. This results in darker drawings or sketches, and you don't need to press very hard to leave a mark.
