In Science NCERT Solutions Class 10 Magnetic effects of Electric Current, we mainly study the mechanism behind ‘how things work’. As the name suggests, this chapter focuses on the study of the magnetic field, field lines, magnetic field due to current-carrying conductors, electromagnetic induction, domestic electric circuits etc.
13.1 Magnetic Field and Field Lines
13.2 Magnetic Field due to a current-carrying conductor
13.2.1 Magnetic Field due to a current through a straight conductor
13.2.2 Right-hand thumb rule
13.2.3 Magnetic Field due to a current through a circular loop
13.2.4 Magnetic Field due to a current in a solenoid
13.3 Force on a current-carrying conductor in a magnetic field
13.4 Electric Motor
13.5 Electromagnetic Induction
13.6 Electric Generator
13.7 Domestic Electric Circuits
Section 13.1: In this section, you will learn about the magnetic field and magnetic lines, how and when they are formed etc. You will also learn the construction and parts of a magnetic compass needle.
Section 13.2: In this section, you will understand that an electric current through a metallic conductor produces a magnetic field around it. You will also learn what determines the pattern of the magnetic field generated by a current through a conductor, does the pattern depend on the shape of the conductor or not. Besides, you will also learn Fleming’s Right-Hand thumb rule, Maxwell’s corkscrew rule, what s solenoid and electromagnet is and how they are formed.
Section 13.3: This section explains what happens when a current-carrying aluminium rod when it is placed in a magnetic field. It also suggests what happens when the direction of force is changed or reversed by interchanging the two poles of the magnet. In this section, you will also learn Fleming’s Left- hand rule and about factors on which the direction of the force on the conductor depends.
Section 13.4: In this section, you will learn what an electric motor is- its construction, working and uses; what is an armature and how the power of a motor can be enhanced.
Section 13.5: This section deals with electromagnetic induction. You will learn what electromagnetic induction is, how a moving magnet can be used to generate electric
Currents, what is a galvanometer- how it works and how it is used, etc.
