The NCERT Class 7 Maths, Chapter 10 deals with Practical Geometry. This chapter helps you to learn basic shapes and construction of triangles based on different criterion. In this chapter, you will learn to draw different shapes and construct triangles based on the given information. This chapter is a continuation of the geometry concepts such as line segments, parallel lines, angles, bisector and a circle etc, studied in the previous classes. In this chapter, you will learn additional shapes and most importantly learn to construct triangles as per the given data.
To know more about NCERT Solutions for Class 7, Maths Chapter 10, Practical Geometry, let’s look at the topics and sub-topics of this chapter:
10.1 Introduction
10.2 Construction of line parallel to the given line, through a point not on the line
10.3 Construction of Triangles
10.4 Constructing a Triangle when the lengths of its three sides are known (SSS Criterion)
10.5 Constructing a Triangle when the lengths of two sides and the measure of the angle between them are known (SAS Criterion)
10.6 Constructing a Triangle when the measure of two of its angles and the length of the side included between them is given (ASA Criterion)
10.7 Constructing a Right Angled Triangle when the length of one leg and its Hypotenuse are given (RHS Criterion)
Section 10.2 – This section deals with the construction of a parallel line to a given line through a point, not on the line. In this section, you will learn to draw a parallel line to a given line by using equal alternate angles in a transversal diagram. You can also use the idea of equal corresponding angles to draw a parallel line, One can learn the construction of parallel lines using practical examples.
Section 10.3 – This section deals with the construction of a triangle. In this section, you will learn to construct a triangle using the properties of triangles. You will learn to utilise the properties to draw a triangle. Besides, you will also learn to construct a triangle based on the concept of congruence of triangles.
Section 10.4 – This section deals with constructing a triangle when the lengths of its three sides are known, i.e. the SSS Criterion of Congruence of triangles. In this section, you will learn to construct a suitable triangle based on the three sides given in the question. This section helps you to learn to construct a triangle using the SSS Criterion and solve practical problems of triangle construction.
NCERT Class 7 Maths, Chapter 10 helps you to understand the concepts of practical geometry. You will learn to construct different types of triangles using the congruence of triangles concept. In this chapter, you will learn to construct basic triangles using the given information. This chapter is filled with practical examples to understand the shapes and their construction well. This chapter considers all the criteria of congruence to be used for the construction of triangles.
Section 10.5 – This section deals with constructing a triangle when the lengths of two sides and the measure of the angle between them are known, i.e. the SAS Criterion of Congruence of triangles. You will learn to construct a triangle when two sides and one angle between them are known. You will be also able to solve problems on the construction of triangles based on the given information.
Section 10.6 – In this section, you’ll learn to construct a triangle when the measures of two of its angles and the length of the side included between them, are given. This section deals with the ASA Criterion of Congruence of triangles. In this section, you will learn to plot the given line and the measure of the angles by following simple steps to construct a triangle. This section helps you to learn to construct a triangle using two angles and one side.
Section 10.7 – This section deals with constructing a Right-Angled Triangle when the length of one leg and its hypotenuse are given. In this section, you will learn to construct a triangle using the RHS Criterion of Congruence of triangles. You will learn to construct a right-angled triangle using the length of one side and its hypotenuse. In this section, you will learn through many practical examples to construct a right-angled triangle.
