Section 9.2 – This section makes you understand the importance of rational numbers and their applicability in practical life. In this section, you will learn about the need for rational numbers and the interconnection with other number forms. It helps to understand the concept of rational numbers and their use in daily life.

Section 9.3 – In this section, you will learn about the concept of rational numbers and their meaning. It gives a clear picture of the rational numbers. You will understand how rational numbers are connected to the concept of ratios and integers. In this section, you learn that rational numbers are the ones which can be expressed in the form of p/q, where p and q are integers and ‘q’ is not equal to zero. The simplest form is the standard form of the rational number. It helps you to learn to reduce rational numbers to its standard form by using common factors.

The position of rational numbers on the number line helps you to compare the two rational numbers.
