The respiratory system consists of nose, pharynx, larynx, trachea, bronchi, bronchiole s and lungs.
The structurally respiratory system consists of two parts-
- Upper respiratory system- includes nose, pharynx and associated structures.
- Lower respiratory system-include larynx, trachea, bronchi, bronchioles and lungs.
The functionally respiratory system also consists of two parts-
- Conducting/dead portion-
- It includes nose, pharynx, larynx, trachea, bronchi and bronchioles.
- Not involved in the gaseous exchange, only filter, warm and conduct air into the lungs.
- The total volume of air in dead space is 150ml.
