Hi, I have 12+ years of experience in UI / UX design and currently working for Cisco. I had worked on KPMG, Juniper, Wipro, Moody's as a full-time employee in the past. After working on several companies, I have a perfect picture of what the companies expect from the UI /UX designers and how to succeed.
I have seen several centers providing UX training, but hardly anyone doing on UI. With my experience, I have learned companies are looking for UI designers in the name of UX designers, at least at the beginning level. It is impossible to become a User Experience designer without much experience. Many got misled by the title and learning the wrong skills.
Learning UI design skills is the key; having a strong knowledge of design foundations like typography, color, grid, layout composition, Iconagory, the illustration would fetch you the high-paying job you desire.
Very, High proficiency in design tools like Figma, sketch, XD and basic knowledge of UX would be enough to fetch a job. Instead, bare UX design knowledge without any experience in UI would be hard to sell.
