Basics of Sanskrit - Part I
This is the first of a course series titled "Basics of Sanskrit." Part I of this series intends to given an introduction and overview of Sanskrit grammar to students and enable them to read and write in Sanskrit independently. The ultimate aim of this series is to be able to understand and interpret Sanskrit texts without the help of translations.
This course is useful to any new student of Sanskrit - anyone who wants to begin writing in Sanskrit on their own or understand Sanskrit texts without the help of another language.
Overview of the topics of Part I:
1. संज्ञाप्रकरणम्
2. लट्, लङ्, ऌट् - रूपाणि प्रयोगाश्च
3. अकारान्तः पुंलिङ्गः, उकारान्तः पुंलिङ्गः, इकारान्तः पुंलिङ्गः, आकारान्तः स्त्रीलिङ्गः, ईकारान्तः स्त्रीलिङ्गः च शब्दाः - रूपाणि प्रयोगाश्च
4. विभक्त्यर्थाः वाक्यनिर्माणञ्च
Language is fun when the rules of grammar are brought to life through creative writing. Mere learning of grammar would be rather monotonous and boring. Let's hold our mighty pens and let the language flow!
Prerequisites: The student must be able to read/write Devanagari Lipi. No further knowledge of Sanskrit is required to enroll into this course.
