There is no "special" diet for core training. Eat a well-balanced meal (Protein, Carbohydrate, fats) according to your caloric intake. Training core will only make it stronger it won't make you lean around the belly area.

Start with strength training and be in a caloric surplus diet you'll see the difference after 4-5 months depending on your genetics.

In the initial phase, yes! A personal trainer will help you teach correct form and technique and will also prescribe or design fitness program according to your fitness capability. Also, there is a motivation factor a personal trainer will always motivate you to do better.
