I am into Manual testing and want to get into automation testing. Where should I start with? What tools/process should I learn first?

Hello Ambika , I Ambika as per your question it is clear that you want to switch your profile into automation testing , Your efforts can vary in learning the automation or preparing for interviews only. If you want to learn from scratch assuming you are not from computer / it background and not having programming experience , following things to be done. 1. Target any programming language and learn all basic concepts as only syntax vary in all languages concepts are same. 2. Once you got some hands on on it start with basic programming exercise which will boost your confidence. 3. Then its time to select tool i will prefer you to go with selenium as its open source you will get a lot material to study. 4.Then see first how it works . 5. use Selenium IDE first so that you can view your script by recording and playback mechanism. 6 . Try to build small small scripts for the same. 7. Parrally you can learn testing frameworks like junit , testng. 8. Once you confidant enough start with framework development and using it . Hello Pritam, As per my knowledge to solve your objective you need to do 1. Develop the Hybrid framework (Combination of Data driven and Keyword Driven) 2. You can add Object repository and Data repository for the same 3. You can define different keywords for different action and add more as and when needed. 4. You can use xunit frameworks like Junit or testng 5. Tenstng give you inbuilt support for reporting 6. If there is no inbuilt reporting you have to use you can customise your reports by adding result in excels or text file etc. 7. For validation purpose assertions are there which can be used. 8. You can maintain your test cases or test suits in the tools like HPQC . If it is not available simple excel aslo can do . This is how you can solve there may be other ways too.
