Nouns or pronouns can be compared using adjectives.
There are three degrees of comparison.
Positive degree describes only one noun. Here there is no comparison.
Example:
Preethi is a tall girl. (positive degree)
Comparative degree describes two nouns so as to compare them. Add ‘er’ to the adjective and use than.
Example:
Sindhu is taller than Preethi. (comparative degree)
Superlative degree describes three or more nouns for comparison. Add ‘est’ to the adjective and use ‘the’.
Example:
Jyothi is the tallest girl of all. (superlative degree)
