Five ways to not repeat the word

Many times while talking to strangers or the people we want to be polite with, we end up using the word “please” too often.

So, here are some ways to avoid using “Please” while still being polite:

Our first option is to use the word “Kindly”; it is a formal way of nicely asking someone to do something.

For example,

Kindly acknowledge the mail as soon as possible

Kindly put your masks on before leaving.

The second option is you could use is

“if you would be so kind”

It is used to ask someone to do something in a very polite and formal way.

Example:

Can you pass me the book, if you would be so kind?

Robert, would you be so kind as to shut the door for me?

You can also use “would you be kind enough” in the same sense as “if you would be so kind”

Now, our examples would become:

Would you be kind enough to pass me the book?

Or

Robert, would you be kind enough to shut the door for me?

Moving on,

The next alternative is to say “If you don’t mind”

I”d like to stay a bit longer, If you don't mind.

Here, the phrase “if you don’t mind” is used to put forward one’s opinion in a very polite way

But this phrase can also be used humorously or rudely depending on the tone of the sentences, so make sure your intonation is polite and clear while using the phrase

Also, you could mention “if that's alright with you” as a replacement to “please”

“We need to finish this in an hour if that’s alright with you.”

This sentence has the same meaning as

“Let’s finish this in an hour, please”

But the former sentence “we need to finish this in an hour will” would sound more friendly than the latter one.

More examples for the same phrase are :

“I’d like to ask you a few questions if that’s alright with you.”

"We would like to get your fingerprints and a sample of your DNA if that's alright with you”

The last suggestion, which is slightly informal, is to say “I’d love it if you could”

This expression is more interesting and lighter than the word "please."

For example, I’d love it if you could give us a visit yourself.

I’d have a pizza with no tomatoes, I’d love it if you could make it extra thin.

These are a few alternatives for the word “please”, but be careful not to use them too much.
