Art of Parchment - Photo Frame

Material – A5 size Parchment paper, design for tracing, small and large embossing tool, 2-split tool, embossing and perforating mat, Paper tape.

Step 1 – Secure the desired design for tracing behind a parchment paper with paper tape.

Step 2 – Keep the embossing pad behind the parchment paper (along with the design). Trace the design with a small embossing tool. (This is the back side of the parchment paper you are working on).

Step 3 – Remove the paper tape and the design.

Step 4 – Draw all the lines once again with a small embossing tool and an embossing mat.

Step 5 – Hold the large embossing tool vertically (like holding a pen). Choose a small portion of the design (say a leaf) and draw horizontal or vertical overlapping lines carefully. Repeat this for 2 to 3 times. This will relief (emboss) the paper on the back side of the paper. By doing this, the color of the portion of the paper will change from gray to white.

Step 6 – After the completion of the embossing turn the paper to see the result. (Now this is the front side of the design.)

Step 7 – Now take a perforation mat under the parchment paper. Use a 2-split tool to perforate along the semi circular shapes. Read the instructions in step 8 for how to perforate.

.

Step 8

  • Hold the 2-split tool vertically (like holding a pen).
  • Pierce the needle deeply through the perforating mat and give it a little twist. Release the tool from the paper.
  • You will see 2 holes pierced in the paper. Now insert the same tool into the second  hole that was produced by step (B), pierce deeply through the perforating mat and twist it a little once again. Take the tool off the paper.
  • You will see 3 holes pierced in the paper. Now repeat this action until you reach the first hole.

Step 9 – Take a close look at the design below.

Step 10 – Use the back of the tool (i.e. the rounded area) to run through the paper just below the perforation has taken place. This will help us to take the undesired paper off the design (refer to the  picture below)

Step 11 - Your Photo Frame design is ready.

Step 12 – You may keep a photo along with a colorful paper as background.
