Respiration is the biochemical process in which glucose and oxygen converted into carbon dioxide, water and ATP (Adenosine tri - phosphate)
TYPES OF RESPIRATION
- AEROBIC RESPIRATION - Respiration occurs in presence of oxygen. It is found in most of the plants. During aerobic respiration, the food materials like carbohydrates, fats and proteins are completely oxidized into carbon dioxide, water. Large amount of energy released.
- ANAEROBIC RESPIRATION - Respiration occurs in absence of oxygen. It is found in only certain plants. During anaerobic respiration the food materials like carbohydrates, fats and proteins are incompletely oxidized into alcohol and carbon dioxide. In this process less amount of energy released.
