"It was a great experience learning from Naman sir. Though due to some reasons, I learnt only for around 5 months, but in this span his passion for music and enthusiasm for teaching music was highly commendable. The best part about sir is that he does not teach in a traditional manner rather opens up various perspectives of music and allows us to think music in a lot many ways. I would love get trained under him as I appreciate the kind of discipline he preaches. "
Rishabh Choudhary
"It was a great experience learning with him. He is a great mentor and the way he enhanced my musical knowledge is amazing. He has a gentle way of teaching and i like that he is straightforward and not a sugar coat type of tutor. "

"Learning under the tutelage of respected sir is really like creating a magical aura around oneself. It was a nice experience learning under him, rather than being judgmental he always tries to find out the inner beauty of the song as well as of their students. He teaches music in a holistic manner which becomes very simple for the students to understand the complex ragas. Thank you so much sir for being the guidance for us in this beautiful and a pleasant journey. "

Hello Thomas,
Both genres are different sides of the same coin and coin is made up of the same seven notes, i.e. Sa, Re, Ga, Ma, Pa, Dha and Ni. These are two sides of Indian music. An interesting fact is that both have the same root, which is dhrupad singing( an old style of music) you should also check some of the dhrupad performance on the internet.
But both have a different approach to perform, practice and pedagogy. I would suggest before you start learning to go and check some performance of Carnatic and Hindustani music so that you could get an idea of both and then give a shot to learn what you liked more. And as far as the concern about learning so you should check if someone is available near your location for individual teaching otherwise you could use online classes as a second way.
Thanks! Hope it helped.
