CS and Law are never mandatory but it is benificial for a more secured and stable future that both are done as the subjects and the feild involved is overlapping. In CS there is a dedicated section for company law, Taxation law, contract Act, Partnership Act and such other Acts whose detailed study can be done when you are doing a law degree. moreover the companies which appoint company sectretary also in most cases do require a lawyer who specializes in company law or the corporate sector. hence it is benifical for the companies as well to hire a single person who has both the qualifications.
