GMAT Integrated Reasoning Section
The Integrated Reasoning Section was added on June 5, 2012. There are 12 questions with 30 minutes time to answer. In this section, the way a candidate analyzes the data and interprets the information is given more importance as in today’s world, business revolves around text, numbers or graphics. questions given in the paper are various data collected from different sources.
A GMAT test taker should have the following capabilities to solve the IR section with ease:
a) Derive substantial information from graphics, texts and numbers.
b) Evaluating the same information from different sources
c) Arrange information to derive conclusive solutions to given problems
d) Combining and permuting provided data/information to solve problems
Total time for IR: 30 minutes
Total number of questions in IR: 12
The IR section of GMAT exam contains four kinds of questions:
a) Table Analysis
b) Graphics Interpretation
c) Multi-Source reasoning
d) Two parts Analysis
The table above shows sales statistics and description of 20 bathroom cleaners of U.S. for the year 2010. Based on it, test takers are to answer the following set of questions.
Consider each of the following statements about these sales figures. For each statement, indicated whether the statement is true or false, based on the information provided in the table.
State True or False:
1. The product with the highest unit sales is 2010 also had the highest dollar increase in price since 2009.
2. Every orange scented product experienced growth in unit sales from 2009 to 2010.
3. No product experienced growth in dollar sales but a decline in unit sales from 2009 to 2010.
4. The highest-priced product in 2010 was also the highest-priced product in 2009.

Here, a graph or a graphical image is given to the candidates along with a drop-down menu. They are expected to complete the statements by choosing one of the options from the given menu.

Two-Part Analysis
A problem will be given with a two-part solution. Candidates will have to arrive at an option under each component to complete an answer.
Each question of the IR section has multiple parts to answer. Students are marked on answering all aspects of each IR question accurately. No partial marking or negative marking happens in the IR section of the GMAT exam.

Multi-Source Reasoning
There will be multiple tabs provided where the test-takers have to collect information by clicking on the tabs. The data collected can be presented as text or in the form of charts and tables. answers can be given in yes/no, true/false format or as multiple choice options.
Sample question for Multi-Source Reasoning of GMAT exam:
Tony is considering improving her bathroom. He will either install new floor tiles, paint the walls or install new wallpaper. Her bathroom’s four walls measure 10 ft high and 8 ft long.
Based on the above statements, state True or False for the following:
a) The cost of installing trinoleum tiles in Tony’s room is $75.
b) The pre-rebate cost of 2 coats of Magic colour paint on the walls of Tony’s bathroom is $500.
c) Tony can cover her walls with cloud wallpaper in less than $100.
