Boxing since 2008. Stay fit.

No, Kickboxing is more similar to boxing but in which one can also throw a kick hitting the opponent from the shin or from the feet, where as muay thai includes elbow hits and the knee hits as well.

Origin: Muay Thai, also known as Thai boxing, originated in Thailand, while kickboxing has roots in various martial arts traditions, including karate, boxing, and Muay Thai. Techniques: Muay Thai allows the use of elbows, knees, shins, and clinching techniques, making it a more versatile striking art compared to kickboxing, which typically focuses on punches and kicks. Clinching: Clinching, the practice of grappling in a standing position, is a significant aspect of Muay Thai but is not commonly practiced in kickboxing. Rules: Kickboxing rules may vary depending on the organization, but typically involve limitations on strikes and clinching techniques. Muay Thai rules are more permissive, allowing a wider range of strikes and clinching. Cultural aspects: Muay Thai has deep cultural significance in Thailand and is often accompanied by rituals and ceremonies. Kickboxing does not have the same cultural traditions associated with it. Overall, while both kickboxing and Muay Thai involve striking techniques, Muay Thai is generally more comprehensive and allows a wider range of techniques, including the use of elbows, knees, and clinching. read less

Muay Thai and Kickboxing are both martial arts with strategic footwork and setups. Both arts provide a competitive edge in today’s mixed martial arts world.Muay Thai and Kickboxing are both martial arts with strategic footwork and setups. Both arts provide a competitive edge in today’s mixed martial arts world. But The most common difference between the two sports is Muay Thai is an 8 point striking system that uses kicks, punches, elbows, knees, and clinching. Kickboxing is a 4 point striking system that involves punches and kicks only. Muay Thai fighters are taught to be more patient, to look for openings following an opponent’s strikes. Counterattacks are more prevalent in Muay Thai. In comparison to kickboxing, there is much less head movement, circling, and weaving.

For Example Im just sharing Technique Difference: Kickboxers tend to be very active with hands, angles, and movements creating a volume of combinations. Muay Thai fighters are looking for the perfectly timed single strike.

Kickboxers tend to be more defensive using angles and footwork to set up attacks while in Muay Thai you see more forward motion and counter-attacks.
